So, let’s talk about some new REUTS books, shall we? Are you ready for ALL THE YOUNG ADULT NOVELS?!
(We snuck an adult novel in there, too 😉 )

(Let’s just say we’ve been busy behind the scenes…)

GODDESS OF THE NORTH (Georgina Kamsika)

Adult  | #OwnVoices // DI Sara Nayar is not the bright young police detective she seems to be; she’s actually the Hindu goddess Saraswathi, living as a human after a dispute with her mother, the trickster goddess Mohini.  When a man is murdered at the Sheffield Castle Market, Sara senses that another god is involved– perhaps the Norse god Loki.   But setting aside her divine nature has left Sara dangerously vulnerable.  With the help of her partner, the attractive DI Michael Higgins, Sara must uncover both the human and divine reasons for the crime and protect the city she loves.

Slated for Publication in Spring, 2020.

BUT FOR THE MOUNTAINS (Erin Riha)

Young Adult // At 12 years old, Arden Thatcher was one of four girls rescued from poverty by a powerful Benefactor for an opportunity that could change her life: to be groomed for the chance to attend the prestigious National Women’s Institute, the only one of its kind, preparing the next generation of women in politics. But nothing is as she thought it’d be, and Arden must learn how to stand up for herself and make her own way out.

But for the Mountains would appeal to fans of The Selection by Kiera Cass, The Glittering Court by Richelle Mead, and The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood.

Slated for Publication in Spring, 2020.

LIGHT KEEPER (Brianne Zwambag)

Young Adult // Magic is dead. King Cormack made sure of that when he burned every last Light Keeper a decade ago. But he missed one, and she’s ready to come out of hiding. The Light Keeper is a fairytale twist that will appeal to fans of Rosamund Hodge, Sarah J. Maas and Maria V. Snyder.

Slated for Publication in Summer, 2020.

All we can say is: Get your bookshelves ready!

Hello, all!

We at REUTS are thrilled to announce three wonderful new books coming at you this spring:

A Soul To Take, by Emily Taylor (April 4th, 2017) is a futuristic New Adult urban fantasy. Agent-in-training Elixia knows firsthand the bloodthirst of the demons now being integrated into society. When a mission sours and her sister is caught in the crossfire, her only option is a taboo that goes against everything she believes in. (Cover reveal tomorrow!)

A Chosen War, by Carly Eldridge (April 25th, 2017) is a New Adult fantasy. All Maia wants is to be a photographer, not to take Mother Nature’s place as a guardian of the Earth. After the rogue Nature kills her parents, though, Maia’s only path to justice–for her parents and the planet–is to fight for this unasked-for destiny.

Roses, by Melinda Michaels (May 16th, 2017) is a grim Young Adult fairytale retelling, a follow-up to Michaels’ debut Golden, this time tackling a wolf at the door. After the brutal murder of her grandmother, Poppy is certain she’s next. Under the protection of Detective Owen Peirce, a not-so-charming prince with a knack for always being right, Poppy must go into hiding and try to figure out who is after her before the shadow finally catches up.

If you’re interested in a review copy or would like to participate in any cover reveals or blog tours, please feel free to email me: cal [at] reuts [dot] com.

Add these books on Goodreads, and mark your calendars! And as always, happy reading.

New South Wales by Katie Hamstead

Katie isn’t new to REUTS–her duology of Deceptive Cadence and Diverging Cadence were both released last year, and have been described as both captivating and heart-breaking at the very same time. If you haven’t read those two titles yet, you have some reading time before New South Wales is released next Summer.

Still set in Australia, Katie’s home country, New South Wales takes a step back in time, introducing an Aussie twist to historical romance literature:

“Where women are in short supply, colonial farm girl, Adele, has her pickings for suitors when she comes of age. Her brothers want her to choose a respectable farmer, except the exciting Drover steals her heart. But in the untamed infancy of a nation, Adele faces adversity at every turn, and learns that sometimes not getting what you want brings the greatest happiness.”

Read the full press release.

We’re excited to have Katie back with the family, and can’t wait to share another one of her stories of love with the world. Congratulate Katie via Twitter at @KatieTeller1!

Words in the Windowsill by Susan Nystoriak

Our next announcement for #PressReleaseThursday is a new-to-REUTS author, and we’re thrilled to have this contemporary New Adult novel, with a time travel and musical twist, in our collection.

“When Grad Student Hans Meyer discovers the score to a mysterious symphony, he has no clue that his research will take him back in time two hundred years. And falling in love with a nineteenth-century girl along the way? Also not part of his plan. As the mystery of the symphony unfolds, Hans realizes that tampering with the past has had serious ramifications for his future, and he may not be able to exist with that.”

Read the full press release.

As a debut author, Susan deserves all the congratulations in the world! Find her on Twitter @smnystoriak, Goodreads and on her personal blog, where she discusses writing and writing tips.

Yowza! It’s been a while since we’ve had a #PressReleaseThursday, but I’m glad we’re getting back in the swing of things and starting off with a bang. And, by bang, I mean one author, two books! Everyone at the REUTS team is very excited to bring on debut author Danielle Koste and her two books, Pulse (NA) and What the Flower Says of Death (YA). Trust us when we say these books will keep you busy for a while. See what I mean:

The subject of study: a boy with a virus that gives him vampire-like symptoms. As more information is revealed about the virus, Rowan is forced to make choices that ultimately define her morals and put her dream career, and life, in jeopardy.

WHAT THE FLOWER SAYS OF DEATH: After a failed suicide attempt, Violet Holt is left in the company of her estranged grandmother and comatose grandfather at their seaside estate in Newport. While biding her time until her rescheduled rendezvous with Death, Violet stumbles across Jack instead. He has his own secrets for why he’s in Newport, and in the process of figuring them out, Violet finds herself reconsidering her birthday plans.”

The Skylark Saga artwork by Archia.

#PressReleaseThursday has been silent for quite some time, and we’re about to change that! Of course, this author is no newbie to REUTS. The first tale in her THE ACCIDENTAL TURN SERIES will be released this December, and is already garnering rave tweets and reviews from advanced readers. And, author J.M. Frey (represented by Laurie McLean of Fuse Literary) has done it again! The Skylark Saga begins with THE SKYLARK’S SONG, a YA WWI alt-history fantasy, scheduled to release in 2017.

“The Skylark’s Saga is the story of seventeen-year-old Robin Arianhod, a flight mechanic with uncanny luck who’s been raised in the shadow of war. But after unexpectedly becoming the first female Glider pilot, Robin’s luck fails. Targeted by the Coyote, a ruthless enemy dishonorably picking off crippled airships and retreating soldiers, she finds herself shot down and forced to seek shelter behind enemy lines. The only way to survive—and finish her mission—is to don a disguise containing the mystical rocket pack she stole from the Coyote and become the infamous Skylark. Told with Frey’s signature ability to subtly weave social commentary into adventure, The Skylark’s Saga tackles issues of racism, classism, and the grittier side of heroism in a soaring tale that asks readers to look at the morality behind the vigilante.”

Download the full press release here.

And guess what? The Skylark’s Song actually has a song, one written and performed by Victor Sierra, directly inspired by the series. Have a listen:

Please make sure you follow, congratulate, and bear hug both J.M. and Laurie! We’re excited to be working with these two fantastic ladies and can’t wait to bring these stories to life.  J.M. can be found on Twitter (@SciFrey), Goodreads, and her website.

When you realize you’re alive, you can live life!
{Chad Michael Murry}

With UNDEATH & TAXES, the sequel of The Utterly Uninteresting and Unadventurous Tales of Fred, the Vampire Accountant coming out later this month, now seems like the perfectly good and snarky time to welcome the newest REUTS author, Clayton Gerrard, and his debut novel, THE MISADVENTURES OF A LIFE LESS LIVED. The title alone should set the scene—this story is full of sarcasm and snarkiness, with a whole lot of adventure and a bit of breaking the fourth wall. Need an example? It’s about a college student whose life (something literally kept in tupperware in his fridge) spoils, and he has to find a new one. Here’s a little more info, and a little bit of repetition:

“The Misadventures of a Life Less Lived is the story of Doug, a secretly-bookish college junior who lies to his friends to maintain their good opinion. He wakes up one morning to discover his life has spoiled. As a member of a popular fraternity, having no life is social suicide, so he embarks on a quest to find another life before anyone can discover he’s a temporary loser. With Gerrard’s sarcastic prose and a foundation built upon a fantasy adventure, The Misadventures of a Life Less Lived pulls out all the shots to entertain you from cover to cover.”

Read the full press release.

Clayton’s new to the whole social media adventure, so make sure you show him the ropes on Facebook, Twitter and Goodreads

About Clayton

10668867_757072054390946_3195956922231866028_oClayton Gerrard awoke one day and decided he’d be a writer. He was two, and the clacking sounds produced by his mother’s electric typewriter when he randomly mashed the keys were most satisfying. Ever since then, he’s been trying to hone his craft and find his voice, but the more he focused on the former the more the latter eluded him and vice versa. So he gave it all up and spent 10 years in college. Now with more degrees than sense he erroneously believes he has something to say.

When he’s not wrestling with his Magical Realism or Fantasy stories, he enjoys a good craft beer, indie movies, complaining about complainers and judging judgmental people. He believes all of life’s challenges are opportunities for personal growth, but tends to forget that when he’s stuck in traffic or a checkout lane. His friends and family mean the world to him, but he hopes they never read this bio because the bastards would lord it over him forever.

Clayton currently lives in Portland, Oregon (likely to change at any moment) with the love of his life, Leslie (far less likely to change at any moment), and their adorable Mini Aussie, Cherry (and if that ever changes, Clayton will cut someone.)

It’s about to get dark and twisted up in here. That’s the life Charity Blake lives in the newest addition to the REUTS collection—THE HARPY, by the lovely Julie Hutchings. In this incredibly moving and imaginative tale, Julie brings the mythology of the harpy to life in a way you’ve never seen before. We’re thrilled to bring this amazing story to the world! And trust us, it’s all parts dark and all parts twisted to become 200% awesome. It’s not for the faint of heart, that’s for sure, but it will have you holding your breath, choking back tears, and vigorously turning pages until the very end. Read a little bit about it:

“Hutchings beautifully breathes life into anti-heroine Charity Blake in a way that punches your gut and pulls at your heart at the same time. When eternity in Hell is more appealing than the life she’s made, Charity has to question if it’s possible to fix what–and who–she’s broken. The Harpy delivers a powerful story of hurt, revenge, and redemption, with emotion-filled prose and gripping imagery.”

Julie is a pro at all things that include talking a lot, so you can find her on Twitter (@HutchingsJulie), Facebook, Goodreads and her blog.

Whatever we do to the web, we do to ourselves.
All things are bound together … all things connect.”
{Chief Seattle}

End of May, lots to say. Even though it’s not officially Summer yet, we’ve decided to kick off our Summer announcements, so expect to see this little corner of the interwebs filled every week with news, excitement and other goodies. This week we’re honored to announce the newest addition to the REUTS family, an original REUTie, Carly Drake. Her YA Fantasy titled A CHOSEN WAR will be available Fall 2015:

“Mother Earth, one of the six key guardians charged with protecting the Earth, has gone rogue, determined to conquer the universe and eliminate the one thing standing in her way: seventeen-year-old Maia. But Maia isn’t aware she’s been assigned to fill those shoes until the animals begin to talk to her. Now, pulled into a war against her will, she must choose—sacrifice her humanity and save the Earth, or walk away and give up her destiny as the new Earth guardian.

Told in a traditional omniscient narrative style that evokes shades of industry giant J.K. Rowling, Drake captures the turmoil that everyone faces as they transition from high school into adulthood, pairing a magical world of elemental mythology with a tale of discovering identity that resonates on many levels.”

The most beautiful people we have known are those who have known defeat,
known suffering, known struggle, known loss,
and have found their way out of those depths.

{Elisabeth Kubler-Ross}

Today we’re bringing to you a few new things on our #PressReleaseThursday, and they’re all packaged into one lovely new title. If you’ve perused our current collection of amazing titles, you’ll notice one under-represented genre: contemporary fiction. No magic, monsters, fantasy worlds—just real, and raw, life. That’s what we’re super excited to bring you today in the form of our newest author, so please join us in giving the warmest welcome possible to new REUTS author Nicole Tone, and her NA story Lake Effect:

“Sophie is doing her best to recover from the death of her fiance, but moving on has never been her strong suit. Caught up in a cold, lonely Buffalo winter, an affair with her mentor seems like it will help her numb the pain, but things only go from bad to worse. Lake Effect addresses the effects of depression, PTSD, and loss with experienced elegance and respect, emphasized by Tone’s emotional prose and realistic story. If Sofie doesn’t choose to heal, it could cost her more than simply the life she’s built for herself; it could cost her life.”

And we’re back with another #PressReleaseThursday. We’ve been on the lookout for a classic fantasy story, and we’re more than thrilled to say we’ve finally found one! Please join us all in welcoming one of our own, the lovely and talented Cait Spivey, and her NA Dark Fantasy novel, From Under the Mountain. If you’re a fan of traditional fantasy literature, this is one you don’t want to miss! Check it out:

“From Under the Mountain is a dark fantasy which reminds us that not even the strongest magic can hide a secret forever. Nineteen-year-old Guerline’s ascent to the throne shatters everything she thought she knew about the witch clans that protect her empire—and when an ancient power breaks free from its prison under the mountain, the empress must decide who to trust, for the sake of her people. A classic fantasy in the vein of Robin McKinley, From Under the Mountain combines lyrical writing full of adventure with the political intricacies and world-building brilliance of fellow genre great Jane Lindskold, all set against the backdrop of one young woman’s journey toward discovering the strength of her own heart.”
